What is AI Assisted Metadata?

AI Assisted Metadata is the latest addition to Canto's AI Library Assistant add-on feature. It enhances metadata accuracy, minimizes the tagging effort needed, and ensures consistency across all Canto collaborators.

Built on the principles of AI Visual Search, the Assisted Metadata feature can automatically recommend relevant tags and metadata values for your image assets. Using visually similar content, historical tagging patterns, and existing taxonomy, it helps Administrators and Contributors quickly apply consistent metadata without manual tagging.

AI Assisted Metadata is just one feature of the AI Library Assistant. Another important component is AI Asset Categorization, which is designed to organize content into visually similar groups, making it easier to sort and handle large groups of new assets. To learn more about AI Asset Categorization, please refer to the "AI Library Assistant: Asset Categorization" help article.

How do I access the AI Assisted Metadata?

AI Assisted Metadata is included in Canto's AI Library Assistant package. If you are interested in enabling the AI Library Assistant for your account, do not hesitate to reach out to your Account Manager. Alternatively, you can submit a support request, and our capable customer service team will answer any questions you might have.

If the AI Library Assistant has already been enabled on your account, please see the following sections to learn how to use AI Assisted Metadata.

How to: Use AI Assisted Metadata

Please note:

  • The AI Library Assistant is exclusively available in the New Library as part of the new Canto XI design.
  • The actions described in this article require the "Edit Content" privilege. For more information, please refer to the "User privilege index".
  • AI Assisted Metadata generates suggestions based on visual similarity specifically for image file types. Additionally, when non-image file types, such as PDFs, are included in a mixed selection with images, the tool can also provide metadata suggestions for these files.

To generate AI Assisted Metadata, start by selecting one or more image assets in your Canto Library that you wish to enhance with metadata suggestions. Click the Edit icon edit_square.svg from the bulk actions menu. The AI Library Assistant will visually analyze the selected image assets, and provide metadata suggestions based on visually similar assets that you previously tagged and historical metadata patterns.

The AI Assisted metadata suggestions will be marked with the AI Indicator AI Assisted Metadata Icon.svg for the following supported metadata fields.

  • Keywords
  • Tags
  • Custom Fields: Text, Single Choice, and Multiple Choice
  • Albums

To review the AI Assisted Metadata suggestions, you can either select "Review All" to expand all fields with suggestions, or navigate directly to the specific metadata field(s) where you would like to apply the suggested metadata.

To apply all of the AI Assisted Metadata suggestions, click "Accept All." Alternatively, you can select individual metadata suggestions by clicking on each one. After you have applied all the necessary metadata, be sure to click "Save Changes" to finalize your selections.

Administrators may also use AI Assisted Metadata within your AI Asset Categories. For more details, please see the article "AI Library Assistant: Asset Categorization".
