Step by Step

Use the 'drag and drop' method

The quickest way to add an asset to another album is by dragging and dropping it to the desired album. To do so, open your Main Library, and either navigate to the location of the asset or use the search function to locate it. Once you can see the asset in the gallery, make sure that you can also see the target album in the Folder Tree to the right.

Next, hover your cursor over the asset to reveal the blue selector circle . Click the circle to select the asset — this changes the circle to a checkmark .

After selecting the asset, click it again and hold down the mouse button. While holding the mouse button, drag the asset over the name of your chosen album in the Folder Tree. Release the mouse button to drop the asset and add it to the album.

Use the asset Preview Page or the asset Information Page

Instead of using the drag and drop method to assign an asset to an album, you can use the Preview or Information Page of the respective asset. This not only gives you the opportunity to add an asset to multiple albums simultaneously, but also allows you to remove it from albums it is currently associated with.

Preview Page

Find the asset you wish to edit in your gallery and click on it to open its Preview Page. The panel on the right contains various sections with information about the asset, one of which is called In These Albums. If you notice any albums in this area that the asset should not be part of, you can remove them by clicking on the Remove asset from this album-icon. Click on Add album to reveal the Add to Album overlay

The top part represents your Main Library , which you can navigate by clicking on the folder names to expand or collapse them. You can also search for a specific folder by entering part of its name in the search bar on the right . Folders containing albums that the asset is already part of are marked with a gray dot, while the albums themselves have a ticked checkbox Ticked Checkbox.

You can add the asset to an album by clicking the checkbox next to it. You can also deselect any already ticked checkboxes to remove the asset from those albums.

Furthermore, you can create a new album directly from this overlay by clicking on the folder you want to add the album to, entering a name in the field at the bottom of the overlay , and clicking on Create.

Once you are happy with your selection, click on Ok to save your choices and close the overlay.

Information Page

You can open an asset's Information Page directly from the Preview Page by clicking on the Information Page-icon in the top right corner.

Here, you can also find the In These Albums section, which offers the same functionality as on the Preview Page. As previously described, you can remove the asset from any albums listed directly in this section by clicking on the Remove asset from this album-icon, and open the Add to Album overlay by clicking on Add Album.

Add multiple assets to an album simultaneously

While the previous methods work only on one asset at a time, it is possible to bulk-assign multiple assets to an album.

First, find the assets in your Main Library. Hover your cursor over one of the assets to reveal the blue selector circle Selector, and click it to select the asset. Repeat this step for all assets you want to add to a new album. Once your selection is complete, click the Edit Content-icon in the menu above the gallery.

The gallery - Several assets are visible, and some have been selected. The "Edit Content" button above the gallery is highlighted

You will now see the Edit Content | New Metadata overlay. Scroll through the list of options until you find the In These Albums section. Follow the steps provided under "Use the asset Preview Page or the asset Information Page" to adjust the albums for the selected assets. Lastly, click on Apply to finalize your changes.

Please note: The layout of the Preview Page, Information Page, and Edit Content overlay can vary, depending on the configuration of your Canto tenant. If the "In These Albums" section does not appear, an administrator can enable it via the steps described in the article Custom Configuration -Overview.
