Whether you want to add Automation to your existing design or move your workflow to Brand Studio completely, importing your current InDesign documents is a quick and easy process.
Get the Brand Studio Export Plugin
As there are many different ways to export a document from InDesign, Brand Studio provides its own export plugin to ensure that your document is fully compatible. Click the following link to download the plugin.
Once the download has finished, run the installer. When Creative Cloud prompts you to confirm the installation of a non-marketplace plugin, click "Install", then click "OK".
Once the installation has completed, the plugin will be available directly in InDesign, under the "Plug-Ins" menu.
Export your InDesign document
Open the document you want to export, and ensure that the Canto Exporter is visible.
Click "Run preflight", to check if there are any issues with the document that could prevent a proper export.
The Canto Exporter will list any issues found, and you can click them for more details. Once you have addressed the issues, you can either run the preflight check again, or click "Continue".
Click "Choose folder" to select a location on your computer where the Canto Exporter will save the export file. Next, use the drop-down menu to choose how many pages of your document to export. Finally, click "Export" to generate a .ZIP file at your chosen location.
Import into Brand Studio
From the Main Library, select "Brand Studio" on the left, then click "Create Template" and choose "From InDesign (.zip)".
Use the file browser to select your previously prepared file, then enter a name for the template.
Once the upload has finished processing, the new Brand Studio Template will be available in your library.
