How to: Manage Channels

  • Updated

    ~ minute read

Channels are completely customizable avenues for attribute management. They are the source for all attribute mappings in the Product Hub. Channel Templates are a series of mapped attributes assigned to a Channel to make exporting products more efficient by automatically formatting the attribute data with the channel-specified headers. A Channel can have multiple Channel Templates containing all kinds of mapped attribute information as needed by the organization for that particular channel.

Channels and Channel Templates can vary based on an organization's needs. The example below shows Product Channels as vendor sites (Amazon, backcountry website, O'Neill Direct, REI, and Shopify) with Channel Templates including the vendor-specific attributes for the gear (in this case, REI's desired attribute labels for rash guards, wetsuits, and women's jackets).

Create a new Channel

Creating a channel allows you to organize channel templates or datasets that you have mapped to your source attributes within the system for your products. This makes sharing product attribute information in a distributor or vendor's preferred format more seamless and efficient.

To create a channel, navigate to Admin>Product Settings> Channels (on the left-hand menu)

  • Upload CSV: Upload a CSV file with the desired headers for the channel
  • Bulk add with copy/paste: A text field will appear for you to add each header, separated by commas
  • Add headers manually: Generates a form in the view for you to type your headers and associate them with a system attribute within the Product Hub via a dropdown menu.

2. After the headers have been uploaded or added to the system and mapped, select Add Template. The template will now be listed under the Export Templates tab in the Channel view.

Add Products to a Channel

Adding products to a channel ensures that specific products can be associated with the desired channel headers when exported.

You can add Products to a channel by first navigating to Products> Products, and either selecting the desired product(s) from the table or using the filter search to find your products.
