How to: Export Product data

  • Updated

    ~ minute read

You may need to export products and product information when using the Product Hub. This is a frequent task for members of a sales or operations team. Exporting a selection of information to a CSV is a simple process. You will have the option to export "All Data" or export for a specific Channel Template.

Changing asset filenames during export

Assets mapped to image attributes can have their filename changed to fit a predetermined format when exporting via that Channel Template.

Prerequisites:

The product assets you wish to export with updated Filenames require the following:

1) Assets must be assigned an Image Attribute in the detail view of the respective product. This includes assigning Images on Variant Details.

2) The formatting is case-sensitive and needs to match the options as listed below (note that they use the [ ] and not the {} brackets)

Formatting variables:

These are the system options within the Canto PIM Product Hub

  • [name] = Product/Variant Name
  • [sku] = Product/Variant SKU
  • [Dimension 1 Name] = the dimension 1 name
  • [Dimension 2 Name] = the dimension 2 name
  • [Dimension 3 Name] = the dimension 3 name
  • [Dimension 1 Value] = the dimension 1 value (variant only)
  • [Dimension 2 Value] = the dimension 2 value (variant only)
  • [Dimension 3 Value] = the dimension 3 value (variant only)
  • [Image Name] = image attribute name
  • [Position] = image position
  • [Filename] = image filename
  • [Custom Attribute Name] = custom attribute value on related product

Assigning Mapped Attributes in a Changed Filename

You can also assign a mapped attribute by including the Attribute name in the brackets, i.e.,[Style Code]. You can add further naming conventions to the filename format by adding copy outside the brackets [ ] and separating with an _ (underscore)

Example:

Sample format: AMAZON_[sku]_[Dimension 1 Name]_[Dimension 1 Value]_[Color]

Sample filename: AMAZON_12345_Size_Small_Green

Please note:

A long attribute could make for a very long file name. [description] for example could have a lot of text.
