How to: Use Canto Connect behind a proxy server

  • Updated

    ~ minute read

Please note: Canto Connect operates most effectively when able to connect directly to the servers hosting Canto services.

Due to this, the use of a proxy server for network routing may hinder Canto Connect's performance. While the steps in this article may improve disruptions, the diverse range of network and proxy setups may limit their effectiveness.

For optimal results, it is advised to always use Canto Connect on machines with direct internet access.

When Canto Connect is part of a network behind a proxy server, it may experience disruption in connectivity. The following steps may help resolve these issues.

  1. Download the proxy.json file attached to this article.
  2. Open the file in an editor of your choice, for example, Notepad.
  3. Update the lines "address", "port", "account", and "password".
  4. Save the file to C:\User\[Your Username]. If the machine you are performing these steps for has more than one user, copy the file into their respective user folders.

When launching Canto Connect again, it should be able to navigate your proxy setup and connect to its services. Should the connectivity remain interrupted, you will have to use Canto Connect on a machine, which does not route its network traffic through your proxy server.
