The Canto Adobe Connector enables you to access your Canto account directly from within Adobe InDesign.

You can use the Adobe Connector only, if an Administrator has granted you the respective permission.

Sign In to Canto from within InDesign

1) in InDesign, go to Window > Extensions > Canto Connector:

2) Input your Canto Account URL (e. g. MyCantoURL.canto.com) followed by your Tenant ID (e. g. MyCantoURL), Canto username and Canto password. In the next step, allow access to your Canto account:

How to Use

1) Make sure you are signed in to Canto (via Window > Extensions > Canto Connector).

2) Browse through the Folder Tree to look for the assets you want:

3) After selecting the required folder, click on the arrow to pull out the window to access all the files within the folder:

4) You may also do a Global Search by selecting the magnifying glass and filter your files by keyword, tags, and file status:

5) With the tab opened, you are able to hover over an asset and click on the circle in the top right-hand corner of the asset to select it. You are able to select multiple files. You can Insert or Replace assets:

6) Alternatively, you can first draw a frame in InDesign. Select the asset you would to insert and click insert and edit the linked asset in InDesign within the frame:

7) In the Assets tab, you are able to toggle the resolution of the asset by clicking on the square icon. The bigger the square, the higher the resolution:

You can toggle the resolution of several assets by clicking on the column title "Resolution" while holding the CTRL (Windows) / COMMAND (macOS) key on your keyboard.

To change back from High-Res to Low-Res in bulk, you need to click on the column title "Resolution" while holding the SHIFT + CTRL (Windows) / COMMAND (macOS) key on your keyboard.

Note: Files inserted from Canto will be downloaded to your local machine in the Documents / Canto folder. If at anytime the connection breaks, you can relink the file form the Canto Connector / Assets tab.

Linking Files and Working with Other Users

When using the Canto Adobe Connector for InDesign, files are cached on to your computer to save time on loading. When opening your InDesign file and your assets are no longer linked, you can easily fix that by going into the Configuration tab on the extension window, hold Command, and click Status. Your files will relink.

This is also particularly useful when you are sharing InDesign files with other Canto users that use the Canto Adobe Connector. When opening InDesign files on a different computer, you may need to relink your files.
